Tough love conquers all

This is a typical FC tale, murder suspects, murder victims, reuniting lovers etc. But the main thrust of the story is dealing with a parent who intensely hates your lover and say anything to break you up. Robert is a doctor from an upper middle class family who due to a white slave owner ancestor on his mother's side has inherited wealth. The mother (reflective of the way some light skin rich black families are ) thinks this inheritance is something to boast about (makes your eyes roll over at such ignorance) and has a snobbish attitude to other black folks with different backgrounds. Cleo is a night club owner darker than Robert and does not trace her ancestors to the Mayflower but has Native American - Cherokee heritage. Once the lovers reunite the story revolves around Cleo being trusting enough in her and Bob's love to deal with his mother (it begins with the fact the Bob and Cleo have been apart for 3 years due to the fact Cleo could not handle his mother's hatred) and Bob being strong enough to deal with his manipulative mother who tries to use her maternal 'love' to get what she wants. Bob does try to do the right thing and keep both woman happy but is man enough to stick up for his wife. Cleo on the other hand seems rather weak and allows the mother in law to get to her.

Does love conquer all?

When you let go of a lover, does the love remain in your heart? And conversely when you let go of love, does the lover dwell in your thoughts? Nightclub owner Clea Wilde has never forgotten the man who owned her heart. And although she is the one who ended the relationship, she has never completely pushed surgeon Robert Redding out of her mind. Five years later Robert has returned to Washington, D.C.; in his mind he has been away far too long, he is ready to claim Clea as his mate. But the old obstacle, a mother who never thought Clea was good enough for her favorite son and their illustrious family, still blocks their path. Robert's attempts to rekindle their love are hampered by new roadblocks; Clea is in a relationship with an R & B record mogul and there are mysterious threats on her life. When these threats become a reality Robert, not her new love, is the one who sacrifices himself to protect her. Is Clea now strong enough to ignore the overt interference by Robert's Mom? Will Robert be able to remove Clea's new love from her heart? And most important, will they be able to uncover the enemy who is threatening Clea's life? In order to gurantee her safety and revive their relationship, they must find positive solutions to each question. My first encounter with Francine Craft was with her book Devoted, which also shared an unforgettable tale of rekindled passion and irresistible love. Ms. Craft proves she has not lost her touch. WILD HEART is an encompassing story which illuminates the fact that you can never let go of a love that is meant to be. I enjoyed this read; it is warm, sensual and wild.
