Book Overview

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe--and built her back up again.

At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made...

Most Beautiful Book

This is the most beautiful book I have ever read. I have bought multiple copies for friends and family to enjoy. Her adventurous spirit and willingness to dive into her painful past is a thing to be admired.

Received great customer service

Not a review of the book content itself, which I also like, but I did receive very prompt and thorough customer service about my own confusion regarding book editions. I eventually received the specific book I wanted in nice condition.

captivating, raw, and honest

So much more than a book about a hike. This book moved me and made me feel at home at the complexity and difficulty of relationships. Highly recommend

Interesting Read

This book inspired me to one day hike the Pacific Crest trail myself. One day I will. But, the story is about discovery. Hitting rock bottom and finding herself. I love how much she learned and felt like I was on the trail with her.

Such a great book

Probably my favorite book. If you like hiking and adventure this is a great book for you.

A life lost, a heart broken, self-destruction and a path to healing...

Own 2 copies, have read and reread at least a dozen times. To understand wanting to subject yourself to 100 days in wilderness, wildness and wasteland, you have experienced the pain that drives her. Although, many may not agreed with such an impulsive decision to embark, so utterly unprepared, for such an momentous journey, this lack of preparation was one of the most defining attributes leading to a healing path. Sometimes events in life are so staggering, that the only way to recover is to be broken to the basics of survival. Because from there the only way to move on is to more forward, one step at a time...

Inspiring!

So my fiance read this when over season and when I mentioned I'd like to go backpacking alone for a few weeks he remembered it!! It is a brutally honest book and so inspiring! This is the only autobiography I can read so that's definitely saying something!!

Captivating and connected

This was a wonderful read - well written and felt so connected with the author, time, place, feelings. Tears, giggles, and inspiration. Great read recommend for outdoor enthusiasts or those who are ‘lost’ in life.

Tgis is one of the best books I've ever read

I love survival stories and this book hit on every aspect. Loved the main characters determination.

A story of determination with a side of ignorance.

If you are a female outdoor enthusiast, you have definitely heard of this book or at least the lead character. It was written well and kept me turning the pages. However, I do think that it magnifies unpreparedness and what could go wrong as a result. Overall, it is a good story of gaining strength out of bad situations.
