I think that negative comments I've read here are based on a misunderstanding of the book's intent. It is not a field guide. It is a book to help one's appreciation and understanding of the flora of the northeast. Spider Barbour's understanding of the natural world we live in is amazing. As a professional naturalist with years of experience, I can only hope to one day see the world in the same way he does. Fortunately, he is able to express his knowledge in an enjoyable and friendly manner. The photographs are incredible from an artistic point of view, but they will not help with field identification.
