John and Kate Kowalski were born in Florida, but their parents are from Poland. The kids take a magic wand to Warsaw for summer vacation. John uses a spell to bring to life the statue of a Boy Scout wearing an army helmet. But the spell casts the children back in time to World War 2. They want to search for their parents, and Antek, the young Scout, agrees to be their guide. The kids witness the destruction and horror of the Warsaw Uprising. They also learn that faith, sacrifice, patriotism, and miracles are stronger forces than magic.
