Funny AND smart. NO filler!

The reason I rarely go to close friends for relationship advice is that I think they will be too much on MY side and condemn the man in question. While condemning men is certainly fun, it's not generally productive. So I really like that these authors have the [..] to tell me to look at myself and my own behavior. I truly and honestly had some Eureka moments here. I'm not even single right now, but this book kept me interested with its smart humor and chatty tone. Not all the advice and situations felt applicable to me personally, but I definitely recognized myself in some chapters. I usually find that humorous books pack no punch and are filled with silly sidebars, but this team managed to make me giggle AND think, with advice from both a man and a woman. A powerful combo! You can zip through this book quickly because it's fun, but the issues will keep you thinking for much longer.

Gold stars for Evan & Linda

Excellent book. Funny as well as intelligent reading. Cuts right through the crap that is unfortunately circulating thanks in part to other books in this genre. A thoughtfully constructed read with reasonable balance between empathy and challenge. Loads of things to consider, whether directly relevant or not.

Informative guidance through the confusing and often self-defeating task of dating

Co-authored by Evan Marc Katz (founder of E-Cyrano.com, an online dating consulting services) and Linda Holmes (who writes as "Miss Alli" for Television Without Pity and is a frequent contributor to MSNBC.com), Why You're Still Single: Things Your Friends Would Tell You If You Promised Not To Get Mad offers readers informed and informative guidance through the confusing and often self-defeating task of dating, including the psychology of both men and women in the midst of a relationship. Offering readers a complete and thorough understanding of the "politics" involved with dating and the process of finding a mate, Why You're Still Single is very strongly recommended reading for anyone seeking to understand the underlying reasons for their lack of a solid relationship, particularly a relationship between adults in or around their thirties.

Definitely a "must read" book

The book's intriguing title caught my eye and I am not even single! I do have friends, co-workers and family members who are single and think that this book is a "must read" for them. In fact, I have recommended the book to my office colleagues who bought the book and told me that they really enjoyed the conversational prose and "common sense" advice suggested by the authors. Yes, the book even has instructive recommendations for situations relevant to those of us who have been married for many years. I especially enjoyed the witty and engaging writing style of Evan and Linda; the male and female perspectives of solving problems that everyone encounters in the dating/relationship scenes. The titles of the chapters are humorous but the messages in the text are sound, instructive and proactive. Read the book; it offers good, practical advice to all of us.

I'm gonna hit on 20!

I consider myself a pretty enlightened person. I read a lot, I care about others, I don't take up two parking spots. I am a great catch! It was only when I picked up "Why you're still Single," that I realized why such a generous gal was, well, still single. I LOVED this book! It was astute and wise without being condescending; and entertaining without being corny. I found myself unable to put it down! Evan and Linda's "he said/she said" was so witty and smart that it felt less like I was reading a self help book, and more like I was getting advice from a couple really good friends. It was also really nice to get a man's perspective, without feeling like he is pointing a finger. I feel like if you are open to change and constantly striving to be a better friend, lover, girlfriend, or wife, and you feel like you are continuously devolving into the same negative patterns in your relationships, then you need to read this book. There is something helpful for everyone, attached or not. It is just good life advice. And for those of us who consider ourselves "enlightened," it is just one more reason to get out there and keep trying. Because, like Evan says, "You can't change men, or make them buy self help books, you can only change yourself." And I think that is a great place to start.
