Book Overview

Music has changed the way we think--and worship. Our pop-music culture has made worship a conflict area rather than a source of unity. Gordon uncovers the issues and points to solutions.

Hymns, men in suits, women in dresses

I wanted to weep after reading this book. It describes my life-long church perfectly. Some Sundays we sing nothing but "praise" songs - no hymns. Young people come to church in shorts, sundresses and flip flops, slurping their drinks in church. I don't recognize my church anymore. This book gives an outstanding, thorough explanation of why this is happening. Our culture is quickly creeping into our churches. We are "dumming down" our churches so everyone feels welcome and comfy and cozy and, above all, ENTERTAINED. Every pastor, every choir director, every praise team leader, every worship committee, should humbly and prayerfully read this book.
