Why do the BEST books go out of print?

It is amzing that such good books can go out of print! What are the publishers thinking? As a teacher, I am always looking for books that will make my students think, and Patricia Hermes's novels do just that. There are couple books about cancer that I have found very thought provoking. One of those is Lois Lowry's A Summer to Die. The other is this one. The story is excellently written and is certainly recommended.
