Six nocturnal creatures--a raccoon, a bat, an owl, a coyote, a porcupine, and a firefly--introduce youngsters to the world of animals who are active at night. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As part of my preschool autumn unit on camping, we include a week of animals that live in the woods. This book was used as the introduction to the week of activities and gave the children an idea of what to expect. It names night animals in simple words on a simple pop-up page. We had talked about what animals they know are up at night while children are sleeping, so this little (very little) book helped them learn what they didn't know. It was a springboard into more detailed books about night animals. The cover is a good representation of the pictures inside. Each night scene spreads over both open pages. Alone, the book is great for a young child (with a watchful eye on the pop-ups)and as an introduction to which animals are nocturnal. My kids loved it and someone chose it everyday as one of the nap-time books!
