Who Discovered America? is a terrific book for the student in your home. Teachers will also find this very useful in the classroom, as well. It tries to answer who really did discover America, since recent evidence suggests Columbus was not the first person to set foot on our country. It has photographs, as well as drawings and maps on each page that accompany easy-to-read text. Each page makes you want to flip to the next to try to see if you can solve the age old question. This would have made studying for those early Social Studies tests a lot easier. I often do not find educational children's book to be the right balance of "kid friendlyness" and age-appropriate learning material, but Valerie Wyatt nails it on the head with this one.
