I'm a Music Student Teacher and I read about this book on another site as a suggestion for a lesson plan. I love the illustrations and the different instruments involved. I will be teaching the "Who Bop? We Bop" rhyme to my students, and even found a nice Jazz instrumental for background music. I think the kids will love it!

This one is a blast to read out loud! Plus the illustrations are perfect. This was one of those books that mom wanted to read over and over - and the boys didn't object! A couple similar books if you enjoy this one are: Big Bug Ball by Dee Lillegard and Brother Billy Bronto's Bygone Blues Band by David Francis Birchman.
Great out of print book for a school library

Our school library had been looking for this copy and I was pleased to locate it. The book was as described with very few markings as it too came from a library. There were two minor torn pages that can easily be repaired.
My son ADORES this book!

My 3 year-old son has requested this book every day for the two weeks we've owned it. It's a good thing I love it, too! Not only are the illustrations of all of the sock-hopping animals just terrific, but the lyrical text begs you to snap your fingers as you read it. My son can identify all the musical instruments in the pictures, and he even "plays" along with them as I read. This book has led us to track down some be-bop CDs so my son will really know what this great music sounds like.
Bop your socks off!

I can't wait to read this out loud to my library students. How can you not love the rhyming words and the illustrations of this book? With the language by itself, you could talk about the feel and the slang of the words. The art work of this book is done with different colored backgrounds that bring out wonderful moods. As an educator, I could use this story to tie in music, history, sound, and art. The kids are going to love it!
