Whitney Rides the Whale with Jonah: And Learns She Can't Run Away

(Book #3 in the The Emerald Bible Collection Series)

Sure to pull readers in from the very first page, this book introduces Whitney Bickham as she's trying to handle--all at once--her beloved grandmother's death, the family move from Michigan to Chicago, and a brand new school. I really loved the Emerald Bible series.

"Whitney Rides The Whale With Jonah" teaches young minds that the Bible is not only a book, but a place that you can go for answers on lifes struggles. I have read all three of the available Emerald Bible Series books, and they have all touched my heart. I cannot wait till the next book is available.

Religious fantasy at its best.

I read the author's WHITNEY SEWS JOSEPH'S MANY COLORED COAT and looked forward to this one. It is just as good, a wonderful story for children that combines biblical wisdom with adventure. A great entertainment for children!

a series that empowers girls religiously while being fun

This series has a wonderful idea at its heart: After beingfaced with a difficult problem, 10-year-old Whitney travels back intime to ancient Israel with the help of her grandmother's magical Bible. There she ends up playing a key part in the world's best-loved Bible stories. When Whitney returns to the present time, she finds she knows how to better handle her own problems. What makes this book and the other one I've read so far (Whitney Sews Joseph's Many-Colored Coat) is that Whitney is very active in both time periods -- she deals with her problem in the present, and she makes a real contribution to solving the Biblical problem when she goes back in time. All that plus humor and a character kids will identify with. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
