A Striking Revelation!

"White Lightning" is a combination of romance and suspense. Clarice Jarrod, a school teacher, comes to town and moves into a house that is supposedly haunted. Clarice meets Tylan Chance, when Clarice takes her car to the garage. Tylan becomes attracted to Clarice, but at their first meeting thinks she is a little too pushy. However, a friendship develops. Not only friendship develops, but so does a romance. "White Lightning" is striking. When I first was introduced to this book, I thought it was about a thunderstorm, with streaks of lightning. It does not involve a weather thunderstorm, but there is lightning. The kind that erupts from a romantic touching of wires, but not from the atmospheric tensions. "White Lightning" has a hidden suspense that when it is uncovered will reveal the 30 year mystery of the haunting of the house Clarice lives in. When the mystery is uncovered, it will also provide a better understanding as to the name for this story. However, the suspense does not overshadow the romance between Clarice and Tylan. The haunting of the house is what makes the storyline better. Clarice and Tylan are drawn together more and more because Tylan feels protective towards Clarice. Lightning does erupts, but slowly between Clarice and Tylan as their wires touch. "White Lightning" is indeed striking and a romance with just enough suspense to make it even more romantic.

Something Lighting!

I loved this story. Ms Poarch has a beautiful writing style. The story line for the book was great. The characters Clarice and Tylan are really made for each other. Neither one knows it but each shows the other things that they never thought they wanted in life, until they happen to meet each other. Much love to Ms Poarch. Try out her other books, she has a couple of books that are connected that I know you will enjoy!

The more you read this book the more you will love it

"White Lightning" is a subtle blend of mystery, romance, and humor. The relationship between Tylan and Clarice is straightforward and entertaining. Tylan seems to be a typical male with his less than favorable opinion of "liberated women", which is why it was so humorous to see him turning in circles when it came to Clarice. I also loved the secondary characters in the story. Ms. Drucilla I think reminds many of us of our grandmothers : independent, spirited women who take no mess from anyone. Karina and Jonathan are characters with stories that are just itching to be told. (Ms. Poarch does Karina's story in her next book "With This Kiss". I wonder if Jonathan's story is next.)The plot moves along well and is believable. If I had one complaint it would be that the mystery a little underdeveloped. The revelation of who was causing Clarice's troubles occurred abruptly. The reasons why the people were causing Clarice trouble was not solid. Aside from that, this story was an interesting read. I look forward to more of Candice Poarch's work.

Haunted house with a thirty year old story to tell ?

Is it a haunted house with a thirty year old story to tell? What really happened to Ms.Drucilla's brother. No one really knew until Clarice came to this small town and bought his house. She thought she was getting a bargain!!!! Can a murder be solved after so many years, and who really did it ? Can true love be found with the person you thought sold you a haunted house?

Can a small-town girl find happiness...

Can a small-town girl find happiness with a man who sold her a haunted house? That's Candice Poarch's dilemma in her first novel, "White Lightning." Clarice Taylor is an elementary school teacher in a small Virginia town who begins to experience strange sights and sounds at the house she's bought from Tylan Chance. Thirty years ago, Tylan's uncle was murdered there. Some townsfolk say the house is haunted. Tylan and Clarice are drawn to each other. Tylan, feeling guilty because he sold Clarice a haunted house, offers to move in to protect her after the police come up empty-handed. (Never, ever, ever does Clarice suspect Tylan might have engineered this whole thing to move in with her. But that's the only spot where the reader has to suspend belief.) There is a town full of colorful characters that could have their own stories told. In the end, love conquers all and the mystery is solved.
