An honest, touching look

As a high school librarian, I acquired this book for students to read. I read it in several hours one evening. I found Wersba's portrayal of Noli to be true and right on the mark. Yes, she says hateful things to T.J. because she is hurt. However, as the novel ends, it seems that she has started to understand and I felt hopeful that she would continue to grow in her understanding of gays. I imagine her forgiving him and spending time with him in the future when they are in their twenties. Already, she has started to mature in her admission of problems with alcohol and with her mother. Perhaps there is a sequel here.

A romantic love story with a twist.

Whistle me Home is a great book. I was interested pretty much throughout the book. It really got into the minds of teenagers. The minds of the characters are pretty much the minds of a real high school student. When someone new comes to the neighborhood everyone is interested in that person. There is always something mysterious about that person and T.J. (The new kid) is very much so. Everone wishes that the romance in their relationship is as well as the one in the book. This book gives the reader some hope that some guys are romantic. I would have to recommend this book for girls mainly because I don't think guys would get emotional over the ending of the book.

This book is a good romance book for young teenagers.

Whistle Me Home is the one of the best books I have read in mySemantics class. This book allows the reader to experience howdifferent people find romance. This book demonstrated how Noli and TJ were able to bond and form a relationship, through troubled times of conflict, emotional distress, and differences in how each of them preceived things. For example, forming a relationship with someone else enables one to enjoy his or her life. Noli was able to stop her bad habits of: smoking and drinking vodka when she met TJ. TJ introduced a new aspect of her life. Throughout this book the reader will find that this book demonstrates how love overcomes one's bad habits. It was very unique how the author included details (everyday experiences for us) that Noil and TJ had. I would recommend this book to teenagers as well as middle aged adults. People under the age of thirteen could read this book, but not completely understand the whole affect of the book, as teenagers and adults of society understand this book today. This book should be a reading requirement for all teenagers.

Informative,understanding and touches emotions.

I really enjoyed this book, I read it in one day. I just couldn't put it down. This book was so informative that I now feel I understand a little more the thoughts of a homosexual teenager. It's made me much more tolerant to diversity. I see how hard it is for homosexuals to live in our society. I feel everyone should read this book.

The book for the human nature

This book is great. The character Noli really gives you an understanding of her life and TJ. When she has problems with her family, friends, or TJ, she goes into the world of alchoholism. This is a wonderful story of life at seventeen, true love, and learning to letting go of those you really love. This book is perfect for anyone!!!
