Whimsy and Wry

Clarity for the Common Reader

A number of Guy Graybill's poems have been published in periodicals. But, it took the publication of a state (Pennsylvania) history, a moonshiner's biography, a history of Italian music and a book of Russian folk tales before his poems (along with some commentary and an original novella) finally saw print in this newest volume of his writings, Whimsy and Wry.

Guy Graybill, a self-styled 'rustic', is a graduate of Gettysburg College, who has enjoyed university-level study at Temple, Penn State, Puget Sound, Bucknell and Georgetown. He has been president of his county historical society and chairman of his county's board of commissioners. In both 2000 and 2001 he was listed in Who's Who in America.

His earlier books reflect Graybill's dedication to 'clarity for the common reader'. Although this book displays considerable subtlety and wry humor, the reader will find nothing obscure or overly complex. The author discusses a fascinating range of subjects, from war and wordplay to prostitution and prejudice; all with humor and clarity. Several of his poems also reveal his closeness to his family: his wife, their four grown children and their families.

For the book-lover who enjoys loaning good books, Whimsy and Wry will be a joy to read and to share with friends. Sunbury Press is proud to have another Graybill original in our growing catalog of fine writing.
