Another Dora Book

Ah, Dora. Would that my daughter didn't love you so! This book is just as predictable as other Dora books and we're very happy with it.

The best of the lift-the-flap

I think this title is the best of the recent lift-the-flap Dora books (see my reviews for Good Night, Dora and Let's Play Sports). This one has Dora searching for Boots. It's interactive as the reader looks for things that are red (under the flaps) in an effort to find Boots. This one even includes Swiper, who's up to his tricks a little. I agree with another reviewer that I don't think these books would be appreciated much past 5 years old or so. My son is 4, and I think he's just the right age to read/play along. Also, these flaps won't hold up to a child who still likes to rip at book pages.

Where is THAT Boots!

This is a nice, playful little book BUT HONESTLY I can't imagine reading it to my five year-old, much less an eight year-old. I truly think the age range would be better if it said: from 5 months to 3 years of age. In this book, Dora and Boots are playing Hide and Seek and when they were little, my two loved it. (They are 3 and 5 now). The fun part of the plot was that you are looking for Boot's red boots and behind each flap (1 flap per every 2 pages) is something red. Is it Boots? No, it's red but it is a flower. Or a ball... or King Crab.... My kids loved that it wasn't Boots but something else. As children get slightly older you can spruce up the action by introducing a few of the 11 Spanish words that are listed. A pronunciation guide for the Spanish vocabulary is in the front. The words follow: Hola, Una, Flor, Roja, Pelota, Mariposa, Un, Sombrero, Rojo, Lo hicimos, Adios. (Nothing intimidating here.) Five Stars. Good Price, Fun Book with Some Educational Elements.

Where is Boots?

This was my daughter's first Dora book, which we received as a gift for her first birthday, before either of us even knew who "Dora" is. My daughter fell in love with it and at 22 months, still asks to read it at times. She is now a big Dora fan. Basically, Dora is playing hide and seek with her best friend, "Boots," and on each page there is a flap to lift to see if he is there or not. I give it a 5 based on her enjoyment of it over the months.
