Lots to thinka bout

When Women Worship examines what is keeping women from transforming worship. Each chapter discusses what can get in the way of intimacy with God. The authors look at women in the Bible, their role in worship and how it affects us today. They also interview modern worship leaders and how they overcame obstacles to form deeper walks with God through worship. What are some obstacles to worship? -- Unwillingness to go to God to fill our spiritual needs -- Shame -- Regrets -- Our past -- Fear of vulnerability The authors also tackle the subject of what worship is and is not. I think whether you are a man or a woman, you can glean some truth from these statements: * Worship is a place of truth (John 4:21:24). * Worship is not the ability to perform vocally. * Worship is focusing everything I am on everything He is. * Worship is not restricted or confined to the lifting of hands, the yielding of hearts and the dancing of feet. * Worship is a way of gift wrapping our pain and our past into the present and then giving them over to God. * Worship creates an environment in which the damage of sin can be reversed. All in all, When Women Worship was an insightful book. My copy is heavily underlined. It gave me a lot to think about and left me wishing I had finished it on a Saturday so that I would have corporate worship the next day. It felt oddly unfinished to me. I felt charged, commissioned, empowered even, but a little unsure of what to do with this empowerment. As the authors say and I too believe, "We have been empowered by God to do more with our lives than just look pretty." Now what is a woman to do about it? Armchair Interviews says: Insightful thoughts on women and worship.
