Wonderful early reader and part of a series which boosts confidence in reading

My 5-year-old was initially drawn to this series of books featuring Tiny the dog because he reminded her of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Tiny is a dog, but unlike his name, he is HUGE. Though the stories do not feature many characters, mainly Tiny and his owner, a young boy, the stories are simple and engaging. "When Tiny Was Tiny" looks at how Tiny was back when he was just a puppy and how much he has grown and developed since then, but in many ways he is still the same - adorable and loving. The Tiny stories are vividly illustrated in full color which will motivate young children,especially visual learners. The sentences are simple in structure and repetitive which makes this an ideal series for beginning readers (Level 1), and the visual clues provided within the illustrations enable children to figure out words by themselves. The elements of predictability and familiar sight words serve to encourage early readers and keep them interested. My daughter's reading aptitude has improved with books like the Tiny stories!
