Well worth the find

found this in a book exchange when I donated some books and gosh was this a surprise! She captures emotions and feelings well and this was a very hard book to put down.

A time-travel romance to rock your world

After being injured in a car crash in 1990s, Susan Butler awakes to find herself in another time, another body, and another life. The husband she left at home and the baby she was carrying at the time are a distant memory. In their place, she finds that she is being referred to as Margaret Johnsbury, the year is 1888, and her husband is a cold unfeeling man who exhibits naught but detached emotion. She quickly finds out that no one likes her: not her husband, his family, or her househould staff. After realizing that she has no other option but to make the best of a bad situation, Susan decides to create a new life for herself and transforms Margaret into Maggie, a 19th-century society wife with 20th-century sensibilities. The result is enthralling and leaves the reader engaged at every turn. This was my first foray into the world of time travel romance and I have to say I'm glad it's where I started, but it might have spoiled me for any others. I've begun to find it tedious how these simpering 19th century heiresses will cry at the drop of a hat, or run away in the face of adversity. Not so with Susan, in the face of her husband's stubborn refusal to take her seriously she pushes him down and tells him to back down. I sincerely thank her for taking a step for all these other regency romance ladies who don't have the guts to do so. Goodger took a risk with a plot that could have gone horribly awry and made it shine. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Very Touching!!!

I rarely read Romantic Books these days but I am very interested in Time Travel and came upon this book. After reading such glowing reviews from other readers, I decided to order "When There is Hope". The book arrived late Saturday afternoon and I could not put it down. It even made me cry! It is a wonderful story.

A book worth bragging about!

Susan is happily married and pregnant. She is also near 6 feet tall and fair. Killed in a terrible car accident, she is placed in the body of a spoiled, hated woman of the 1800s. Now called Maggie, she finds herself as a petite, dark haired woman. She spends months trying to convince others that she's no longer mean and spiteful. Her husband, Carter, goes from doubting her story to trusting her totally in the end. It was my favorite book of all time and worth keeping forever. Read it. You won't be sorry.

A Rarity in the Romance Field

I wasn't expecting much when my sister gave me this book to read. Although, I like time travel romances, most of them are much fluff and junk. This one, I have to say, draws you into the story and hooks you like a true, hard-core romantic story should. Can you imagine waking up in another century to find out that everyone and I mean everyone, including the servants, can't stand you? To go from a perfect, pretty blond with a loving husband to a sloppy, lazy, dark-haired, sleazy slut??!! To find out in the past century that you have a most incrediable, handsome husband of a man whom you find yourself falling in love with and that he'd rather jump into a lake than be near you? That's exactly what "Maggie" went through! Talk about a harsh life! There hasn't been another time travel book that I've read that can match the story-telling, romance and passion in this one book! Buy it, if you can get your hands on a copy, it's definitely worth it.

A keeper!

I have only a handful of time travel romance novels that I will read over and over again, even though I know the story by heart. This is one of them. The plot is believable and although the heroine seems to get picked on physically quite a bit, she does bounce back and never stops trying to make sense of her new life. I'm sorry the author named her Maggie, the name seemed more like a servant's name of that era, especially since none of the other main characters used nicknames and her "real" name had been Susan, not Susie.
