An old lady living alone by the sea finds joy and comfort from her seventeen cats and especially one small blue-grey kitten. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a favorite check-out at the Public Library for my two toddlers until we moved. It was a worn older copy and I could not get a new copy because it was out of print. But the story and pictures stood the test of time. The pictures where very detailed and warm and cozy. It was a favorite for me to read aloud to them and as children are the best critics this has to be in their top 10 as childhood favorites 10 years later. The story was a simple story of an Old lady who lived by the sea and took care of her cats and how on a windy day the cats took care of her.

Through very simple language and ideas, it illustrates the notion that one is never alone as long as they are open to companionship. I loved this story as a child and appreciate it even more as an adult. The illustrations are sweet and beautiful...
