Reviewed by Matthew Feliciano (age 8) for Reader Views (5/08) "When Night Time Comes Near" is a good bedtime story to read to your kid. It's about what happens in a village as everyone is getting ready to end their day. Some people take down their outside flags. Others bring in their patio furniture. It starts to get breezy outside and the sun goes behind clouds. Once we see how everyone gets ready for the night, the little boy in the story goes inside. He brushed his teeth and washes his face and hands. The bathtub had water in it but the story didn't say he took a bath. I think the story should have said that the boy took a bath to get ready for bed. Most kids take a bath at night and if they don't want to, maybe if they see the boy in this book doing it as part of his bedtime the kid reading it would want to take a bath, too. The pictures were nice to look at but not very exciting. I thought "When Night Time Comes Near" was a little boring for me, but for younger kids I think it is a really nice way to read with your kid and end the night together. After the kid takes a bath of course!
