Enticing

I really enjoyed this book, but then I have to admit that i love anything written by this man. He really knows how to keep a person keen to read the next page so one can't put the book down. If it's by Leigh Greenwood I will buy it if I don't already own it!!

When Love Comes

Leigh Greenwood NEVER fails a good read. No one mentioned that this is another installment in the Night series. We love the update on all our beloved members of this special force of fighters who fought in the the Civil War.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER

I am a sucker for a well-written romantic novel where the hero or heroine looks past the physical and/or emotional scars to see the inner beauty of the person. In the case of "When Love Comes", the hero, Broc, has terrible scarring on one side of his face. His injury was sustained when his unit (Civil War) was ambused and Broc was shot in the face. The other side of Broc's face was untouched, and it is apparent that he used to be a very handsome man. He requested that his family be told he was dead, rather than face their rejection or revulsion of him (his family were entertainers on riverboats--a profession he was forced to give up due to his face). Broc feels that no woman could ever love him, no woman could ever look beyond his face to see the real person he was inside. The first time Broc meets Amanda, he is astounded that she does not recoil in horror at his disfigurement. Amanda is quite a beauty and is highly sought after by almost every man in the town. She has resisted these men for she wants someone who will look past her beauty and will love her for the person she is inside. As Amanda and Broc get to know more about one another, Amanda sees only that Broc's scars indicate his strength and courage in the face of his trials. As each situation unfolds, Amanda becomes aware of Broc's integrity and honor and yes, he is beautiful to her. Broc is viewed by most as a monster or ugly because all they see is his disfigurement. Amanda doesn't care--she starts to have feelings for him. Broc has been fighting his attraction to Amanda--yes, he is attracted to her physically, but he admires her strength, will and tenacity. But, the biggest obstacle for Amanda and Broc, among several, is Broc's belief that he is unworthy of love, that nobody, especially a beautiful woman such as Amanda, could ever look past his ugly face. He is starved for love and affection. It is Amanda's task to make him see the things that make him special to her BECAUSE of his scars and in spite of them. So, the story unfolds with several villains and unlikely supporters and plenty of action. You will thoroughly enjoy this book as did I.

super extremely complicated western romance

Broc Kincaid's face was scarred during the Civil War. By 1869 he remains extremely sensitive about his visage so when moronic Felix Yant tauntingly comments, an irate Broc batters the man. The Texas judge warns him about losing his temper, but commends him for paying the doctor bills so that Yant's wife and two kids did not have to suffer; still he sentences him to collect a debt. That will wipe clean the record or spend time in jail Broc agrees to go to Cactus bend to collect what rancher Aaron Liscomb owes. He arrives at the Lazy T ranch to find the man dead. His wife Amanda runs the spread with the help of her three young children Eddie, Gary and Amanda. None of the four family members know anything about a debt. Broc assumes they lie, but decides to learn the truth. He obtains work on the ranch, but as he falls in love with the widow and her three kids, he also realizes they are honest; which means the judge or someone else is using him to pull a scam. This is a super extremely complicated western romance that feels in some ways like an amateur sleuth as the hero struggles to learn the truth starting with going undercover. The romantic subplot takes a somewhat back seat to Broc's investigation, but fits perfectly as he begins to wonder if love taints his perspective. Leigh Greenwood affirms why he is one of the sub-genre's top guns with his latest historical. Harriet Klausner
