Superb

Superb... Kelly Epperson is a journalist. When Life Stinks It's Time To Wash The Gym Clothes is a compilation of her columns. She shares her outlook of the world many times in a humorous way, always after much pondering. Mothers will enjoy her view of parenting. Her opinions range from aging, parenting, and world events. My favorite entry concerns the billboard buns. We now pay people to let us advertise their products...are we having a duh moment? After the big 4-0 she went blonde, been there and done that! When Life Stinks It's Time To Wash The Gym Clothes is a superb read.

Wash, Wear, and READ!

Epperson's debut collection will have you saying, "YES!", "Exactly!", and "I want more!" From her adventures in Europe to raising her boys, Epperson reminds us to celebrate what we have in common, and to live with joy and humor. She has a voice you won't want to miss - I only hope there's more where this came from.

Life stinks, but this book smells like a bed of roses.

Kelly Epperson's first book is a lively collection of short, short essays... no, they are more like a series of vignettes, that are insightful and get right to the heart of the subject. The author uses her knowledge of pop culture to draw us into her world, referencing the music of Pat Benatar, the Carpenters, and even Michael Jackson. She uses it as a bridge that reaches out to the reader, creating a common ground where we can meet and share her slices of life. Epperson's sense of humor is part Will Rodgers and part Erma Bombeck. Whether she's writing about current fashion and what women are wearing on their butts, or visiting the beaches of Normandy with her sons and meditating on the loss of life and the ravages of war, (the chapter brought tears to me eyes) she has the talent to make her reader feel like she/he is one of her best friends and she is sharing a story over a cup of coffee or a bottle of french wine. The author has a refreshing take on the simple things, mixing humor and the political with subtle ease, using a folksy tone that shows her readers how to take a deep breath and appreciate the special and the mundane that we encounter every day.
