This collection of prayers and drawings, is full of gentle humour, and evocative language. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I received this delightful offbeat little volume as a birthday gift and liked it so much I ordered up three more for friends. Two of them loved it and the third hasn't yet let me know. It's a great way of demonstrating reverence for those of us who feel constrained by the more mainstream approaches.
A Different View of Prayer
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
I've actually bought more than 20 copies of this book to give to friends. Some of the friends are Christian, some Unitarian Universalist, and some just people who are curious about life. This simple book by Leuing, who is apparently a 'national treasure' in Australia, is more than it seems. Read the introduction (more than once if you're me), and you will find a new way to view the sacred within ourselves and our planet.
Simplicity, the everyday, and yet profound
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
This is a book of prayerful musings and poetry, which encompass a range of experiences and emotions. Leunig's style is humble, quirky and succinct, sometimes with cute witticisms, sometimes with peacful consoling, sometimes with ecstatic, childlike joy or blunt pain. Leunig allows the everyday life to speak profoundly into his spirituality (a great example is the symbol of the duck, which represents humble spirituality). He doesn't allow his prayer life to remove him from the realities of the world, and yet refuses to let the realities of the world remove him from a state of prayer, either. This book is a great education in prayer. :) Jude
