A book that lasts a lifetime

I've had this book since before I could read. The pictures were detailed enough to help me then, and as I learned to read I always referred to it when it was time to clean my room. It appealed to me as a bit of a procrastination tool, but in the end always motivated me to get the job done with simple instructions and step by step guides. I have retained this information now at 27, and I can actually say this book had a great impact on my life, as far as getting things organized and neat.

From student to teacher

I ditto the 23-year-old. This book calmed a lot of tension between me and my parents! Many more years later, this book still sits on my shelf and today I use it as a reference tool as a Personal Organizer. Julie Morgenstern is great, but nothing beats what you learned as a kid!

Best Book I ever purchased for my ADD son!!

This has got to be one of the best books from one of the best series I ever purchased. My son, who has ADHD, used to sit clueless in the middle of his totally chaotic room and not even know where to start. While I tried many times to explain to him how to clean his room, and modeled/helped him, he never seemed to get it. We got a copy of this book, and worked with him using it once. He used it himself afterwards, and now at 17 he still cleans his room using the steps given!! This book was a life-saver (his that is!!)

My parent's said "clean your room" a lot!

This book didn't work as well as my parents wanted it to(my room gets messy), but it has been over 12 years since they gave it to me and I still use it for reference sometimes. The book and series do a great job of opening communication between you and adults. They give kids a place to start and a laugh (great pictures) at the same time. Every thing is friendly and lets you understand why your parents are upset about the dump your room is, encouraging you to keep it clean. It gave me a structure. I still start cleaning by making my bed. The book talks about doing laundry, too. Clearly laid out directions on what to do and where to go next keep you going.

wonderful, easy to understand information for kids!

This is one book in a collection of "how to" type books for children. I read this book as a child, and now as a mother, would love to use it as a reference for teaching my own children. Each step in the process of cleaning a bedroom is clearly spelled out. The pictures use humor to maintain plenty of interest. I highly recommend it to other parents, or kids with basic reading skills!
