What to Do When No One Has a Clue: Advice for the Brave New World

It's difficult to know what's expected today when the private is now public and there are few, if any, boundaries. Pierson and Harrison survey the experts to resolve modern quandaries when it comes to technology-induced challenges, modern dating, dining, and other confusing situations.

Made a great bridal shower gift!

I bought this book as a bridal shower gift. The wishing well was brimming with household items, but the book was a big hit! The bride to be spent half the shower reading from it which churned some thoughtful and fun conversations! Great read.. fun and useful at the same time!

Now I'll know what to do

I have often found myself wondering whether it's okay to ask a lesbian how she got pregnant and now I know. "What To Do When No One Has a Clue" is a hilarious and easily accessible read. The further I got into the book, the more I came up with ridiculous situations from my own life...hopefully Pierson and Harrison are hard at work on volume II. This is a perfect graduation or wedding/baby shower gift.

Avoiding social gaffes and faux pas in awkward situations you never imagined

If you remember the certainty of your mother's Emily Post advice with fondness, you will love this hilarious guide to living with grace and fun in our anything goes world. The book is chock-full of situations and dilemmas that were not part of our social lexicon even ten years ago--and the authors' offer a fresh take on gliding through quickly changing modern times with a minimal number of faux pas.

Even the cover had me laughing

My copy of this book was sitting on the table in a restaurant yesterday and the waitress picked it up and started laughing as she read the cover. What a conversation starter! This is a quick, fun read. 21st Century etiquette rules (What side of the aisle does the transgendered bridesmaid stand on? Do you have to admit your boobs are fake? Can you give your modern baby a Plain Jane name?) leave lots of room for debate, and the authors embrace that debate with levity, humor and a bit of real advice. I bought a few copies to give for bridal showers and birthdays. Makes a great gift.

Seinfeldian

Seinfeldian is the best way I can describe this book. Any of the questions posed in this book could be made into a Seinfeld episode. Seinfeld never addressed any of these (that I can think of) simply because Pierson and Harrison have focused on fun questions that are almost unique to the world we live in today -- and not the 1990s. I love that this book doesn't try to offer authoritative answers to hard questions but rather gives us some quasi-experts' views. It's a fun, light read that made me think harder about funny topics that I had in a long time.
