A simple, moving story

I, too, am saddened by the harsh reviews this lovely work has received. My father gave me this book after my mother passed away and it moved me to tears, primarily because it described so perfectly, in such beautiful, simple terms, their 47-year marriage. Perhaps only those who have shared, and then lost, a great love, along with those who knew them, can be touched by it. Far from being a jumble of ideas, the author captures a lifetime of love in only a few pages. The simple illustrations perfectly complement the prose.

This is great, heart felt and uplifting!

I am saddened by the many harsh words written about this book. It seems people have forgotten the exhilaration and surprise that comes with each new event, or the romance and dreams that makes a relationship last.I recalled a song I once heard. The song followed the relationship of two people from 'first touch' until death. Each step along the way brought a new realization of what love was. It was only at death that the true realization of love was fully felt.When I saw and read the first few pages of "What Love Is: A Fable for Our Times by Carol Lynn Pearson, Kathleen B. Peterson (Illustrator)" I felt the same way that song had made me feel. And I wanted to share it with my wife. So I did. We have both enjoyed it.

Crying in the bookstore

If you like sentimental, tearjerker stories this is the book for you. This book touches your heart in it's tale of a life journey. Although it may be somewhat cliche, it is still excellent! It is worth the money.

A moving, original fable

WHAT LOVE IS is an original story and was not copied from another work. The poem referred to by the previous respondent is also called "What Love Is," and was written by Rae Ann Reichert. However, Rae Ann's poem deals with the loss of a child, while the book WHAT LOVE IS chronicles the life of a couple through good times and bad. It is a moving story certain to bring you to tears! I highly recommend it!

A fabulous book about the love we all long for.

This book moved me to tears. Even in it's simplicity it says so much about what love is or what love should be.
