A Double Story

What I Would Tell You by Liz Tolsma is the first book in her Echoes of the Past series. Mathilda Nissim lives in Salonika, Greece during the German occupation of World War 2. Present – day, Tessa Payton lives in Pittsburg. After doing a DNA test, she finds out she is not who she thinks she is. Traveling to Greece seems like the only way to find answers. This was a very moving story. You could sympathize with both heroines. Both ladies had tremendous courage to follow their convictions against all odds. May we find the strength to do the same. I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review.

Secrets

5 stars, Secrets WHAT I WOULD TELL YOU by Liz Tolsma In this dual timeline book, we follow Tessa in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the present time, and Mathilda in the 1940s when the Nazis were taking over her beloved Salonika, Greece. Grab a box of tissues, it's going to be a long ride. Tessa does a DNA test that shows that she is a Sephardic Jew. This completely baffles her, since she has had no idea that she was part Jewish. She runs off to Greece to examine her roots (don't we all wish that we could do that), walking where her ancestors walked, lived, and loved. Mathilda is a bit of a rebel, she publishes a small newspaper to try to make a difference in everyone's lives. She has her beloved husband Asher and several good, good friends in her neighborhood. Join up with Tessa and Mathilda and see how and if their stories intersect. I highly recommend it. The story is beautiful. I felt like I was right alongside both of the heroines, every step of the way. The author has a way of drawing you into their worlds.
