Perfect!

I received this book in perfect conditioned, still in its wrapping. EVERY Middle Grades major should have this! It's SO helpful with classroom management skills and many other things. GREAT BOOK!

The Best Advice!

This book was assigned to me by one of the best professors that I have ever had. I found it easy to read and practical. I love how the authors down to earth style and real world examples. This book gives sound advice for not only middle school teacher but anyone who needs to understand the adolescent mind. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to understand middle schoolers and the tecniques that we should use in order to get them to become motivated in school. Because once we as adults get out of the "I know everything and you know nothing" mind-set and work with our students democratically we will find our students are interested in learning because their opinion counts toward how they should be taught.

Excellent reading!

This book was used as a textbook in a graduate class I just completed. I found the book to include practical ideas and advice, and clear explanations concerning the adolescent. Every middle level teacher and/or teacher of adolescents (5th through 9th graders) should read this book, regardless of how many years they have been in the classroom! The book offers new information and research, and combines this well with the former research on adolescents and how they learn.
