I purchased this for a great niece at a thrift shop and it is still in excellent condition. It is hardboard and very colorful with the reading short which is good for a young child's attention level. "Red! Green! Yellow! Blue! Bear would like to play with you. Take a guess. Watch bear dress. Red! Green! Yellow! Blue!" Opposite page: "Will bear wear?" Four colored shorts to choose from are pictured with the color word of each under them. "Take a guess. What will it be? Turn the page and you will see........" The child sees the bear on the next page with a pair of red shorts on and the story continues....... "Bear wearing red with an apple on his head." And the story continues in a similar fashion. This teaches recognition of colors, color word recognition for older children, thinking skills and decision making. A parent can make it an interactive game with the child as well as a likeness and difference page (find the same colors on the page by name) This is a wonderful book for your home or classroom use with toddlers to First graders who still need to learn color words.
