Great book!

This is a helpful discussion for anyone who is just graduating college, in the middle of a mundane job, or facing retirement. How do we have an integrated life where we work and glorify God? How do we deal with disappointments in our professional careers? Doug confronts these hard questions head-on. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Brouwer blends pastoral sensitivity and theological insight

Solidly grounded in Reformed theology, Douglas J. Brouwer helps readers at every stage of life ask the right questions about the big question, "What am I supposed to do with my life?" He skillfully draws on his own vocational struggles to enlighten his points without making himself the focus. This book is helpful for young adults who are beginning to discern their vocation, but it offers particularly insightful discussion of fulfilling one's vocation at midlife and in retirement. While the focus is on what one does for a living, he helps the reader understand vocation as something that encompasses all of life. Give this book as your next graduation gift, as a retirement gift, or to someone you know who's turning 50. They'll all thank you for it.

Great

Doug writes the same way he talks, and his delivery is always thought-provoking and sincere.

Beyond Career Counseling

In the ever-shrinking shelf space between fundamentalist rant and new-age self-help, Mr. Brouwer's latest book stands out as the blessedly thoughtful work product of an educated mind and a pastor's heart. It will be helpful for readers facing "major" life decisions about colleges, careers, and mid-life changes, but it will also be invigorating for those who find themselves, for the present, on the right path but looking for renewed energy and vision in their lives.
