Maddock O'Shaughnessy--born liar, tavern-goer, and idle fisherman--comes face-to-face with aliens when he is selected for a mission to save men's lives, collect their souls, and roam the future.
I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed, I have never forgotten.

All of Swycaffer's books are great, some are classic pursuit novels like Universal Prey, Warsprite, etc. This, like some of his others, is one of a kind. You'll never forget it. I told people that at one point, 3/4ths of the way through this book, I had to hold it up in front of my face, as I read it at lunch at a fast food place, to hide the tears coming out of my eyes. They said "Sounds like a sad, depressing book; won't try it." That's NOT why I was crying. I was moved, rewarded, what else can I say? It was NOT a depressing book. Haven't you ever cried from the heart, or because of delight, etc.?
