Wonderful, inspiring book for martial artist, healer, or seeker

As a longtime Buddhist (Tibetan with Zen experience), a Oriental Medicine practitioner (herbs & acupuncture), and a dabbler in the Martial Arts, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I have rarely seen a book that was able to evoke such an authentic mood, especially Buddhist. The only others that come to mind are Eliot Pattison's Inspector Shan series. I do hope to see another novel in the same vein by Sensei Sullivan.

A Must Read Sleeper

This is an obscure little book that I believe was originally published as an E-novel. However, it is well written, the characters are very three dimensional and real. The story begins with a "monk" who has mummified himself in seiza in the mountains of Japan. He's left a manuscript written by hand and that manuscript makes up the bulk of the story. This is an extremely spiritual story about the lives of three men and two women. How the threads of their lives intertwine to create an amazing tapestry of interwoven destinies. This book is about martial arts, buddhism, enlightenment, greed and avirice. The author contends that all actions have a higher purpose, even if the individuals involved cannot see it and the darkest actions often lead to the greatest realizations.I was pleasently surprised by "WAZA" and recommend this book to any serious martial artist and/or spiritual seeker.

Nothing as it seems.

WAZA is a well structured novel that uncovers the ultimate truth of our time... the life we lead never concludes as originally intented. MJ Sullivan weaves a tale told from multiple perspectives and timelines. Linear, but not linear. Hopeful but tragic. It is worth the effort to take time and study the glossary and appendices in order to gain a fuller meaning of the text. The author's accompanying calligraphy is a beautiful backdrop to the tale.
