The color photos on glossy paper were pretty good but the B/W ones were muddy. I didn't really read the text yet but that's not really why I buy art books. I'm mad about Thiebaud so the BW pix were disappointing. Maybe the Hardback is better but at $60 that option is out of my price range. If I had it to do over, I'd get the hardback. If Thiebaud is not one of your favorites, the paperback is probably sufficient.
Good book, great value

If you enjoy Wayne Thiebaud's work, this book provides over 100 illustrations, 68 in full color and full scale, in the 206-page book. It is highly comparable to the Steven Nash book at less than half the price. Because it was published in 1985, it omits more recent work, but most of Thiebaud's iconic images were completed by that date (when the artist was 65 years old). It includes landscapes as well as his wonderful paintings of food, the figure and "pop" objects. It was published in conjunction with a museum exhibition and includes full identification of each work shown. Excellent value for a very good artist monograph.
