Examines works by Turner, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Delacroix, and Klee, discusses papers, watercolors, and brushes, and shows how to create portraits, nudes, animal portraits, and landscapes.
It's a pity that this book has not been reprinted. I found it in the library, and felt, after reading through it, that it is one of the better books for beginners on water-colour painting. It provides simple exercises in abstract painting, as well as figurative, landscape and still life water-colours. There are also tips on painting nudes and animals. Best of all, it shows how these simple techniques were used by the great masters like Delacroix, Gauguin, van Gogh, Renoir, Klee and Cezanne to create beautiful paintings. Techniques are supplemented by reproductions from pages of the great masters' sketch books. This is a simple but effective book.

At first I only want to find some information for painting with watercolour. But when I read this book, it is very encouraging me. I have never study a watercolour with such depth as the book has directed me. It really helps me to appreciate great masters work. You will feel yourself able do the same as the book tell you. Also, it is simple and not too complicated to understand.
