A story that is at once horrifying and inspirational, Wasted is the heartbreaking account of one man's struggle to save himself and help save others in the process. This description may be from another edition of this product.
A very detailed story of a man's experience of alcoholism in his family and how addiction takes over his life. I typically have a hard time identifying with foreign authors, but Mark is easy to relate to for struggling addicts. Occasionally, he seems overly word-y, but there's no denying he is a descriptive author.

This was a great book. The story really gives an inside view to this raw lifestyle and I would even recommend it to someone who is actually struggling with these issues but was capturing enough for the standard reader.

A solemn but ultimately optimistic tale

A life of horrors that no one should have to suffer. "Wasted: A Childhood Stolen, An Innocence Betrayed, A Life Redeemed" is the memoir of one Mark Johnson, who faced sexual and physical abuse from the age of four, and became an alcoholic by age eight, a junkie by age eleven, and a prison inmate by age eighteen. With such a nightmarish first two decades of life, trying to dig himself out of such a deep hole would seem nearly impossible, but Johnson managed to turn his life around. A solemn but ultimately optimistic tale, highly recommended for community library memoir collections. Diane C. Donovan California Bookwatch
