Couldn't put it down!

This author achieves what others have tried to do but failed...he captures the allure of Savannah as only a lifelong resident and historian of the town can do. Visitors have tried and failed. Highly recommended...the best yet of this author's efforts.

Wassaw Sound

It held my interest from the very beginning and being from that part of the country made it extra good. William C. Harris has writeen 2 other very good books in the local of Savannah. I highly recommend it!

Wassaw Sound

Wassaw Sound was wonderful. I have read all 3 of Bill Harris' novels and they only get better. I was going to "leisurely" read Wassaw Sound, but I could not put in down. He has such a wonderful way of using history of Savannah and involving his characters. Very good reading!!

Well-written with lots of local flavor...

I have now completed three recent novels about the lost "Tybee Bomb" all of which are based on a true incident in 1958. A bomber, after being involved with an in-air collision with another military aircraft, drops a nuclear bomb core off of Tybee Island Georgia before attempting an emergency landing at nearby Hunter air field in Savannah. This novel explains what might happen if terrorists discover the location of the lost bomb and attempt to use it. Amazingly, this obvious thriller is almost more of a love story than an action story. "Wassaw Sound" has the appealing strong character development and you feel like you know these people by the end of the book. (My only minor criticism is that maybe we got just a tiny too much history of these characters.) But I love depth including the development of rich details of place of Savannah, Thunderbolt, and coastal Georgia - all adding to the credibility to the story. The story incorporates sometimes forgotten local and US history and includes a tie into the Cuban boat lift and other historical events that us older readers may remember. Last week I was on Tybee Island visiting with friends and they gave me more history about the author - a well known resident of this small island community. Apparently the author has a medical background and this expertise serves to make the story even more interesting. I stayed up late finishing this book and trust that other readers will do the same. A good read.

Wassaw Sound

This is a must read for anyone, whether they grew up in Savannah or not. What an awesome storyline...the Tybee H Bomb. At first glance, I thought this would be a great "guy" book. Once I began reading, I couldn't put it down, so, it's a great "gal" book as well.
