Excellent Education Read for the Classroom

This book tells the story of the valiant slave of President James Madison, Paul Jennings, and his loyalty to the Madison family during the British attack on Washington in the war of 1812. Figley beautifully depicts the panic and chaos among the people when the British troops marched into Washington and the important role Paul Jennings played in supporting and protecting Dolley Madison while her husband was at battle. This little-known story, with its vibrant illustrations and vivid imagery, is a great educational read for the classroom. Highly recommended.
