Mama and Margaret

Heartwarming, honest and downright funny, Mama and Margaret is a story of courage, hope and unconditional love. Meet Margaret, a remarkable woman with Down syndrome who is smart, witty and an inspiration to anyone who meets her, and Augusta, her eighty-five-year-old, no-nonsense mother who has been her guardian, confidante and lifelong advocate. Experience the tense moments after Margaret's birth, the challenges she faced as a child, and her inspirational life as an adult, including a jam-packed social calendar, colorful friends and numerous accomplishments. Get to know Mama, in all of her exquisite southernness, whose emotional, quirky and sometimes hilarious relationship with Margaret provides an underlying current throughout each chapter. Mama and Margaret is not just for parents, friends or family members of someone with Down syndrome-it's for anyone who appreciates all the goodness life has to offer. That is true in more cases than we are probably aware of. Mama and Margaret is a story of love, affection, of family, and the unknown: what do you do as a Down syndrome parent. What shame is there to having someone in the family with...
