What a great book! I found it hard to put down! It is a beautiful love story of two very different people. It is full of adventure. The best part of this book is that it shares the story of God’s amazing grace! Be sure to read the two sequels: Soaring Eagle, and Red Bird. You will fall in love with these amazing people in these three books!

When a friend loaned me "Walks The Fire", she told me that if I suffered through the first chapter, I would absolutely love this book. She was right! This wonderful story follows a pioneer woman named Jesse King as she travels to a new world and is kidnapped (or rather, rescued) by a Lakota warrior. After saving a deaf toddler, Jesse becomes Walks The Fire, is received by the Lakota women as a fellow sister, and wins the heart of the man she has grown to love. Once you get past the first few pages, you will not be able to put this book down!

I loved the book. We were preparing for a trip to this area of the country and the historical perspective provided here really added to our enjoyment. This has been a great Christian series that any adult or teen can enjoy !

I read Walks the Fire almost three years ago but I still remember the story vividly. I've since read most of Stephanie Whitson's books and they just keep getting better. Wonderfully drawn characters about which you come to care deeply. These are 'can't miss' novels.
