Devotional

Knowing of H.M.S. Richards, I was not disappointed in his commentary and thought.

A daily plan to make Bible reading more insightful

I am well acquainted with the Bible, but this daily devotional plan gave me new insights. The plan took me through the Bible in the order of when the stories occurred. For example, many of the minor prophets lived during each other's time. I have purchased a number of copies to give to friends and plan to read this book through again along with the Bible chapters related to the day's reading. If you want to understand the Bible more clearly this book will help you do that.

Walking Through Your Bible with H.M.S. Richards

This book is designed to guide you in a yearly Bible study plan by reading the Bible in chronological order. I have found that this makes the Bible much clearer because it is easier to understand it when you read the related parts together. For example, if you were to read scripture in the way it is organized in the Bible, after reading 1st and 2nd Kings you would read the books of Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiates, and Song of Solomon before you would get to the prophets. By that time you would have forgotten much of what you read in Kings. When you read chronologically, however, you read the books of 1st and 2nd Kings along with the prophecies that were written in the times of those kings. That makes it much more understandable because you can see why God was so upset with the people and why the prophets' messages were sent. Each day the book gives you a key text, your reading assignment (which is usually three to four chapters), and a short devotional reading related to that days text. I am currently using this plan for the fourth consecutive year because it has opened up my understanding and makes the Bible come together.
