Book Overview

In national bestseller Christine Warren's Others novels, vampires, witches, werewolves, and more have come out of the supernatural closet. Now, the world as we know it will never be the same...

Kitty Sugarman is a lot tougher than her name implies. Still, she's content with how her small- town life keeps her removed from all the changes happening in the world--like the Unveiling of the Others. That is, until a near-tragedy strikes...

Best "Other" book so far

Excellent! Well thought out, well written. I thought it was the best of the five "Others" written so far. Highly recommend it.

A good shapeshifter "Others" story.

Christine Warren started writing about the "Others" for Ellora's Cave as a download online book. They became popular and now she is found everywhere and it couldn't happen to a better author. Her creation of a hidden group of creatures such as demons, vampires, werewolf's, fairies, witches, etc is both romantic as well as steamy hot. For centuries the "Others" have kept their existence a secret but recently have through secret talks with the government made themselves known to the public. In this story "Kitty" and I kid you not that is her name finds out she is a lion shapeshifter other due to the DNA her long gone father left behind. Her father contacts her about the same time she finds out about her furry side and makes arrangements to go meet him in Las Vegas to tell him off and to find out more about being a shapeshifter. Such as how do you shift back? Keep from hurting your loved ones? etc. Her Father turns out to be the dying Alpha head of the Las Vegas Red Rock Pack. His heir is a hot lion shapeshifter who takes Kitty under his wing as well as under his body. They are destined to be mates but someone is trying to kill her and he has to find out who. A steamy good read. I look forward to her next installment in the series.

Add to "Must Read" list

The Others series has been a lot of fun from the get-go. Of all the books, however, this one reeled me in. Our girl Kitty, contrary to the gist of the story summary, is not a wishy washy drama queen. She's a dame with a great sense of humor, intelligence and a brass set of her own. And Max? He's worthy. It's a funny, solid read with enough "wow sex" to keep the party going. I'm not easily pleased, but this one did it for me.

terrific paranormal romantic suspense thriller

In Tennessee while driving home with her mom Misty, their truck crashes. Misty is unconscious, but Kitty Jane Sugarman manages to get both of them clear of the vehicle. However, they need help desperately, but on the back roads no one is in sight. Somehow while in severe pain, Kitty Jane for the first time in her life shifts her body; she now knows her father is an Other, a lion shapeshifter. The Felix of the Red Rock Leos, Martin Lowe is dying from cancer. He wants to meet his daughter before he dies. He sends his trusted aide Marcus "Max" Stuart to arrange for his meeting Kitty. Max goes to Vegas to meet Kitty at the airport. He is stunned to find an innocent twenty-four years old instead of the hardened easterner that he expected. However, many in the Pride want Max and Kitty out of the way so the can replace Martin and inherit his wealth; none expected the strong loving bond between the number two Leo and the daughter of the Felix. The latest Others' supernatural romance is a strong tale starring a solid cast who make believers that shapeshifters exist. Kitty and Max are a wonderful coupling as they fight, fuss, and purr in love. However, the star is Kitty who had no inkling of her paternal DNA until the accident, but whose steel magnolia personality comes in handy as she deals with her dad's pride, a totally new side of the family; with at least one or more wanting her either frightened back to backwoods Tennessee or dead. Fans will enjoy the war between love and avarice as Christine Warren provides another terrific paranormal romantic suspense thriller. Harriet Klausner

If I were king of the forest...

Nice story -- I really enjoyed it. A young woman suddenly, traumatically, finds that she is a shape-shifter. Her father, who she had thought was a high-school boy who died in a car-crash, is a Leo -- a were-lion -- a pride leader, and alive. To learn who she really is, and how to control this new aspect of her nature, she goes to visit. Trouble -- there are those in his pride who are by no means welcoming. Her only allies are her father, who is terminally ill, and his lieutenant. Characters grow and develop, others reveal themselves, there is suspense and danger, and things work out in a very satisfying manner.
