Anne's Love Song

Like the writer whose book review precedes mine, I was also an 11-year-old boy when the impossibly-beautiful Honey West made me a believer in love at first sight... well, okay... infatuation at first sight. We somehow expect such glamorous TV and movie stars to live enviably fabulous lives and to appear on Robin Leach's Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Voices from Home unveils the gulf between fans' expectations and harsh reality. A life frequently punctuated by heartbreak and pain is the price that Anne Francis has paid for the deep spiritual wisdom she has acquired and now shares with us in her book.Inasmuch as God is love, a book about God is perforce a book about love. Voices from Home is a love song that Anne has composed and one that she sings from her heart. She has moved me with every note and touched me with each line of lyric.Blessings to you, Anne.

THE REAL ANNE FRANCIS

Being an 11-year-old boy in 1965, it was almost inevitable that I fall in love with Honey West, personified by Anne Francis in the TV show of the same name. And I have been intrigued by this underrated actress and great beauty ever since. And so it was with great interest that I picked up this rare copy of Anne's self-told story. This autobiography by Ms. Francis is not what the usual gossip-hunting reader might be expecting. Although it does relate the main events of the actress' life in fairly chronological order, the main thrust is not the events themselves, but rather how those events changed Ms. Francis and caused her to have a spiritual awakening and evolution that apparently continue to this day. The book is uplifting and offers many words of wisdom. It is more a "New Age" tale of enlightenment than a story of Hollywood shenanigans. Indeed, the Honey West period of Ms. Francis' life is given a short two or three pages of book space. The bulk of the volume is dedicated to Anne's "finding herself," for want of better words. Thus, this is very different from your typical star story. Anyone who is interested in the real Anne Francis--a deeply spiritual and questioning woman-- should pick up a copy of this short book. I certainly enjoyed it.
