GORGEOUS

This is such a beautiful book it is a heavy book printed on thick paper and full of lovely illustrations. The large format book is divided into three sections: "Ascetic Ideals", "The Passions" and Mind and Nature" which approximate thematic groupings of "Religion", "Art" and "Landscape". All are lavishly illustrated. Throughout the book he includes his photos and his stories of Tibet,and the Sinai, the Gin-kaku-ji Temple in Kyoto, and villages of Delft , Vavari, of the Taktsang or Tiger's Den Monastery in Bhutan, and the dangerous T'sangpo Gorge of northern India, of the Chamonix or Yosemite, or of the island of Jubany, Antarctica He includes art, artists, authors, ecology, and winds his philosophical meanderings with lush visuals...would make a great gift
