I read Becky's book from the perspective of a trained and licensed Social Worker. And WOW, what a difference this book has made in re-igniting my passion for developing the "Human Factor" in the non-profit arena, particularly in homeless shelters. Becky alludes to the incredible lack of the "human factor" regarding the issue of homelessness on page 34 by stating, "It is hard for most of us to walk in another's shoes, especially with people whose lives are so inherently different". I have worked on the front lines of homelessness and this population needs the touch of the "human factor". That means you and me. Becky sums up the chapter, "The Human Factor", by leaving each of us to "contemplate this one area where we can all give back to humanity". Ultimately, there are many areas we can all give back to. We just have to open our eyes and become aware of the issues around us. Thanks for the reminder Becky. What a breath of fresh air that a business woman writes a book that speaks to all of us from all walks of life.
