As I admire Austria very much, I love the books of Gordon Brook-Shepherd. He always gives you an objevtive view of the situation. The tragic assasination is described in an excellent way, there is also a lot of background information about the life of Franz Ferdinand and about Europe of the late 19th century. There are also good pictures and maps concerning the assasination.I loved this book because the assasination of Sarajevo is the most tragic event of the 20th century, I think, and it is just unbelieveable how much bad luck there was on that day... Just imagine if this day wouldn't existe, there would have been no World War I, Austria-Hungary would still exist and the East Europeans wouldn't have had 80 years of communism...
