Stellar bio about a forgotten royal lady

After reading this incredible book, I am convinced that Vicky, Princess Royal (and later German Empress Frederick) was perhaps the most remarkable royal woman of her era. From being the darling of her father and the passion of her husband, to being an everlasting thorn in the ass of her eldest son (you know, the Kaiser Bill of WWI fame), this book has gone a long way to rehabilitating her image in the minds of an entirely new generation. I’m a forever fan.

This is a great biography of the Empress Frederick.

Vicky: Princess Royal of England and German Empress is the best biography of the Empress Fredderick that I have read so far. Daphne Bennett is sympathetic to and interested in her subject. She set out to learn why the earlier biographical accounts of the character of the Empress Frederick differ so widely from her character as shown in her published letters. She points out that the Empress Frederick was a woman ahead of her time.
