Excellent Portrayal of City's Ambiance

This novel describes the lives of a couple of families in the Port of Veracruz and surroundings during the Mexican revolution. Wright's descriptions of such physical sensations as the heat and humidity of the city, the smells, colours and noises, as well as the general ambiance during the times is outstanding. She has the capacity to take you back to the fast disappearing charms of this famous Port City.
