Statics Text Book

Book was in great shape, received in a timely fashion. Order from this person.

Superb

This book is great for self learning!, most of the theorems are explained in a very good way (a little too good and normally a little to hard to understand the first time) the examples are clear and the exercises are neither easy nor difficult (well some of them are difficult, but not all of them). I already had 2 teachers that told me they learned from this book... it's true that almost all the material is the same, but nevertheless it's a great book to get yourself started in Statics... way better than Hibbeler. The contents of this book are worth every penny, it's almost like having a private tutor. And remember it's engineering you'll have to do some WORK to master all the subjects.

Very clear and well illustrated

Maybe, I just pick up these concepts easily. I found this book very useful and extremely easy to understand. The sample problems are detailed and very easy follow. The "Solving Problems on Your Own" at the end of the each section provides an excellent review and will be a terrific reference. It is one of the best textbooks I have read. I can only think of a couple things that would have made it better for me. For instance, I think they could improve there coverage of finding centroids with integration. By my old calculus book covered this very well. I am not a big fan of photographs in textbooks that only dress things up. That said, the authors really need to fix some captions. It is just wrong to call a crankshaft a camshaft, and there is a picture with a 'bollard' that sure looks like it is a capstan rather than a bollard. (Now I am being real nit-picky) All in all, a terrific textbook. I wish more textbooks were as clear and succinct.

Good text for college level Statics

I used this book for my college Statics class, and it has been one of my favorite texts so far. The derivations of all the equations are very clear. Many real world examples/applications are also included, which helps spice up an otherwise dry subject matter. Also, the example problems correspond well to the homework problems, allowing you to work backwards if you are stuck. I've seen lots of complaints about the lack of a solutions manual, but personally, I felt it was uneccesary.

excellent book as an intro to statics

I had to take a class on Statics to fulfill my requirements for graduation as a Computer Science major, which included one engineering class not related to computers. I chose what looked the most interesting to me, and I was lucky to take the class with this book. Detailed sample problems, good idea flow, and answers in the back all made this a great book for a student. There wasn't a single concept I didn't understand, and I was able to solve most of the problems correctly just with the aid of the text, the rest of which I was able to solve with the help of groupwork. I recommend this to anyone who is taking a Statics class, even if this isn't the required textbook, if you can afford the price tag...
