This book was published in 1981, and makes an interesting introduction to model cars for the younger reader. In a mere 31 (large-sized) pages, the book covers models cars (collecting, making and displaying), slot-cars and slotless cars (how they work), and radio-control cars (how they work and how to race them). Along the way there is a short, but concise text and a horde of brightly colored pictures. My son got this book on a lark, and we found it quite intriguing. It is pretty general, but for an eight-year-old reader, it makes a very good introduction. I wouldn't recommend this book as anything other than an introduction, but for a young reader, I think that this would be a good buy. My son and I both recommend this book.
