"In 1986, when I first discovered LDN, if I had Mary Boyle Bradley on my team, this drug would have been approved, marketed and manufactured by a reputable pharmaceutical company. I have no doubt about that." Dr. Bernard Bihari The story is simple. It is about love, life and hope. After years of battling with the onslaught of her husband's Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Mary stumbled on a little known doctor in New York City, Dr. Bernard Bihari. Many people on the internet claimed that Dr. Bihari knew how to stop every type of MS from progressing. Even better, it was claimed that he could help everyone with an autoimmune disorder, ranging from psoriasis to AIDS. It was claimed that Dr. Bihari could help them with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Eventually, Mary's husband took a leap of faith and put Dr. Bihari's work to the test. LDN worked. It stopped his MS from progressing. Since September 2002, a worldwide campaign has ignited with passionate momentum to get LDN medically recognized as a treatment for MS and all autoimmune disorders. LDN is a cheap, generic, out of patent drug with no known side-effects. Despite the fact that there is no financial incentive to entice any pharmaceutical company to investigate new uses for Naltrexone, the ambition is for LDN to hit the masses and improve the lives of millions. Small scale LDN clinical trials are finally making progress across the globe and are paving the way for a much better future for everyone who suffers from an autoimmune disorder.
I was recently diagnosed with MS this past June and through an incredibly fortunate turn of events,my In-Laws suggested I read Mary Anne's book...which I did. It is so well written, chock full of imperitive information that I was not receiving through the medical community, provided much insight into this desease, and at times humorous and touched me in an amazing way. Yet, I was even more touched to again have the incredible good fortune to actually meet Mary Anne and her husband Noel in person in July. To say that she and her family have been thoroughly instimental while I'm on this journey is an understatement.'Up the Creek with a Paddle' is an absolute must-read for anyone grappling with a life-altering disease, whether the person directly affected or the caregivers/family/friends. LDN has provided me with such massive help and hope and had it not been for Mary Anne Bradley, I would never have known about LDN's existance. To read this book and learn of LDN will turn your life around, to have met Mary Anne and Noel Bradley restores your faith in true Earth-bound Angels! Thanks for them both and thanks for 'Up the Creek with a Paddle' will never be enough. Mary Anne is a true pioneer and has the fortitude and tenacity that is seemingly lacking in the medical community on a whole. Her book should be a must-read for anyone going through very difficult medical challenges...not exclusive to MS. Thank you so very, very much for everything, Mary Anne!!! Kelly Collentine

LDN is a treatment for MS (and other autoimmune diseases) that MUST be taken seriously by the medical and research communities. Mary Bradley gives an easy to read personal account of her LDN journey on behalf of her husband who has MS. She is articulate, informed, and shares a wonderful sense of humor. Clearly she did her homework before pushing her husband to try LDN and readers can benefit from the work she did. Her ongoing efforts to get clinical trials for the use of LDN in the treatment of MS and other diseases demonstrates her compassion and dedication to others who are dealing with these conditions. One of the most important contributions Ms. Bradley makes is the hope she gives to those suffering from MS and those of us who love them. In fact, my sister emailed her about her daughter/my niece (diagnosed with MS in 9/05)and Mary Bradley CALLED her back! She was full of hope and encouragement which meant so much to my family. Read this book! It is full of valuable information and the author really cares!
Inspiring, engaging, and timely story of overcoming auto-immune illness

Mary Bradley tells her engaging story of discovering the drug low dose naltrexone (LDN). LDN can arrest the progression of autoimmune diseases and unlike other pharmaceutical options, is inexpensive, orally administered and almost free of adverse side-effects. Reading of the impact that this drug had on Mary's family, I understand her profound motivation to 'spread the word'. Besides being well written and enjoyable, this book lit a fire in me and I have shared the book with many family and friends. As a person diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, it is refreshing and inspiring to read about treatments that work. After 6 months using the drug, LDN, I agree with Mary that this is a drug with wonderful potential and which all people who deal with auto-immune related illnesses should know about and consider using. Thank you Mary The information in this book continues to be relevant and appreciated by myself and my friends. I ascribe credit to LDN for halting MS for me for 3 years now. (August 2008)
First Book about Low Dose Naltrexone

I appeciate the fact that Mary Boyle Bradley took the time to write this book about a treatment for MS and other autoimmune disorders. This treatment is largely heard about over the internet and is only FDA approved at higher doses, 50 mag., for opiate addicts. Dr. Bihari discovered that at lower doses it can be used to treat MS, Parkinson's, Crohn's, and other disorders. The reason why the USA has not pursued this treatment is it is not a profitable one. Mrs. Bradley's husband was rapidly progressing with his MS and switched from Avonex to LDN, and has done much better with LDN. I encourage you to read this and you will get an understanding of how backward the medical community and NMSS really are. Mary is trying to get a large scale trial for LDN and MS in Ireland, as well as, LDN and AIDS in South Africa. Here, she would like the help of Oprah Winfrey, because LDN could save millions of lives very cheaply. Thank you Mary for all your efforts! And thank you Dr. Bihari, the man who who gave us LDN!

This book has brought so much light to my life. The idea, the hope, the honesty means more than words can say. For Mary Bradley to open her heart like this is unbelievable. As someone with MS, I hope that many people can get the hope and encouragement they need from this book to realize the opportunities out there for them....
